At the end of April and beginning of May, part of the Sail.Game team travelled to São Paulo, Brazil, for gamescom latam 2026, one of the largest gaming industry events in Latin America.
The trip started before the expo itself, at the Brazil–Czech Gaming Industry Seminar hosted at the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in São Paulo. Organized together with CzechTrade and Czech Game Developers Association, the seminar brought together representatives of Czech and Brazilian gaming organizations, studios, and institutions to discuss opportunities for collaboration between the two regions.
During the seminar, we had the chance to present Sail.Game and talk about what we are building, a platform focused on helping developers and publishers find better matches and create more meaningful industry connections.
One of the most interesting parts of the trip was seeing just how quickly the LATAM gaming ecosystem is growing. Brazil especially feels like a region full of momentum right now. Across meetings and conversations, there was a clear sense of ambition from local studios, publishers, and organizations, alongside a strong willingness to connect internationally.
After the seminar, the week continued directly at gamescom latam itself.
The following days were filled with meetings, networking sessions, and discussions with developers, publishers, investors, service providers, and industry organizations from across Latin America and beyond. Like most industry events, some conversations were planned weeks ahead, while others happened completely unexpectedly somewhere between the expo halls, coffee breaks, or evening events.
For Sail.Game, the event was less about “selling” and more about listening, understanding the market, and building relationships. Events like these are valuable because they give you context you simply cannot get through emails or online calls alone. You start seeing what challenges different regions face, what opportunities are emerging, and how people within the industry think about publishing, funding, marketing, or business development.
At the same time, it was also great to see the Czech gaming industry represented abroad together with organizations and companies working to strengthen international cooperation and visibility for Czech developers.
A huge thank you goes to CzechTrade, the Czech Consulate in São Paulo, GDAcz, Abragames, ADE SAMPA, and everyone we had the chance to meet throughout the week.
Judging by the number of follow-up conversations already happening after returning home, this definitely feels like only the beginning of Sail.Game’s presence in LATAM.
